Life on the land, bottled honestly

My grandfather planted the ridge block the year he came home from the war. He never watered it and neither do we. The vines are short, gnarled and stubborn, and in a good season they give us about nine barrels.

Three passes, all by hand

We walk the rows three times each vintage so the fruit comes in at the ripeness we want rather than the ripeness a machine decides on. Cover crops go in every autumn, sheep graze the mid rows through winter and the only thing we spray is sulphur.

Fundraising grew out of the same idea. A school down the road asked if we could help and it turned out that selling good wine raised far more than a chocolate drive ever did.
